We specialise in retaining the value of materials, working with in-situ rather than replacing them to help manage costs and impact on the building fabric. Removal of the failed, weak, and defective materials and masonry, repair matching concrete, and providing repointing solutions. Our methodologies are aligned to and comply with BS 8221-1:2012: Code of practice for cleaning and surface repair of buildings.
The repair of masonry buildings and structures requires a thorough understanding of the structural issues, both the cause and effects that may have led to the material failure. Identifying the problematic areas of the building substrate, followed by the correct treatments and repairs is critical. Technical analysis, stone indenting, stone surface repair, structural stone repair or cast stone replacement, we focus on a targeted range of minimum intervention techniques for structural and non-structural repairs for stone masonry and bricks.
Our craftsmen use highly specialised repointing techniques such as tuck pointing for filling joints in masonry, especially brickwork, to give a smoother and fine appearance. Joints are filled flush with mortar coloured to match the bricks and then scored with a narrow groove into which a thin ribbon of contrasting mortar is pressed or tucked. Other specialist repointing techniques include flush, semi recessed, weatherstruck, bucket handle and beaded pointing. By using a variety of joint profiles, the individual forms are better accentuated, merging bricks and mortar to a homogeneous surface.
The guiding principle for the repair of heritage and listed buildings is that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Every project has its unique building restoration specification, stone repair match solution (both in colour and texture), and repointing approach. Unsuitable repointing can affect not only the look but also the lifespan of masonry and is amongst the most frequent causes of damage to the character and fabric of historic buildings.
Facade, roof and chimney repairs are undertaken by scaffold, abseiling, cradle or MEWP access, a solution for historic, modern and difficult to access structures. Being specialist contractors with expertise working with heritage buildings, we work within listed buildings and conservation guidelines to provide you with solutions that you can always be proud of.

I am using Building Transformation’s work to help justify façade restoration works around our business. They have produced excellent presentations on what can be achieved and is a brilliant piece of informed marketing that is helping win people over in our business to take façade cleaning and restoration more seriously.
Building Transformation is always mindful of the environments they are working in and take the time to understand the restrictions of each site; whether they be physical or due to the client’s day to day activities. They are extremely proactive and ensure that any issues are flagged to a client immediately, and when doing so always make sure a solution is provided. I couldn’t recommend Building Transformation more highly.
I had a walk around today with Dave and am impressed with the work so far. Dave and the team have done a great job.
I’d certainly love to work with you in the future so perhaps before the job is completed we could look at what opportunities there are for the future.
At this stage, from my point of view your team has been extremely professional, informing us of what was happening at all times and most importantly no disruption whatsoever to our guests and business.
The team at Building Transformation understood our challenge of finding a facade cleaning solution that would initially restore the glazing to its original state, protecting our building for years to come. Through intelligent and thorough testing right through to the full restoration of Block D, we have been very satisfied with the project management and delivery of the cleaning programme.
